CLEAN SEED INNOVATION LEADS TO PRECISE SEEDING TECHNOLOGY

August 22, 2016 – Burnaby, BC – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC)

Parliamentary Secretary Terry Beech, on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Lawrence MacAulay, today announced an investment of $1,825,000 to Clean Seed Agricultural Technologies Ltd. to support the commercialization, production and distribution of a new, high-precision seeder.

Precision seeding equipment, such as the new CX-6 SMART Seeder, uses sophisticated field/soil mapping technology which enables the farmer to apply precise amounts of seed, fertilizer and nutrients, at the right time, to maximize yields and reduce cost.

With this funding, six seeders will be produced and field tested on farms, in addition to upgrades of the production line.
Quick facts

  • Clean Seed Technologies is a Canadian agricultural technology company focused on the development, manufacturing and selling of sustainable agriculture technology, specifically no-tillage SMART seeding equipment.
  • AAFC supports the development and adoption of industry-led initiatives regarding knowledge creation and transfer that responds to challenges and opportunities in the sector.
